IASNR is pleased to invite submissions for organized sessions and abstracts for our upcoming June 2024 annual conference! Submissions are due November 1, 2023. Click here to submit an organized session proposal or abstract.
Organized Sessions represent an opportunity to bring together a group of scholars to present and discuss work focusing on a particular integrative theme or topic.
New HYBRID sessions!
This year IASNR will pilot test a small number of hybrid sessions – sessions that will simultaneously take place both in-person at the conference and online! We particularly invite proposals for organized sessions that would be in a hybrid format. If you can only attend the conference online and want to present, we strongly suggest organizing a hybrid session to increase your chances of being able to present online.
If you would like to be considered for a hybrid session, the session proposal should include:
- At least one presenter who will be attending in-person in Cairns, Australia
- At least one presenter who will be attending virtually online
- Virtual presenters must be comfortable with presenting during the Australian time zone!
- A moderator or coordinator who will be attending in-person in Cairns, Australia (this can be one of the presenters)
A hybrid organized session can be a great option for a research group or community that has some members who may not be able to attend the conference in person but would like to have a chance for collaboration and connection! When you submit your organized session details you will be asked if you would still be interested in holding this organized session if it can only be scheduled fully in-person, (response options will be: Yes, No, Maybe). Please be prepared to answer this item as well.
Fully in-person sessions are also welcome!
We also welcome submissions for fully in-person organized sessions. We will not consider proposals for fully remote/online sessions.
All sessions (hybrid and in-person) can be structured in multiple ways:
- A collection of 3-5 thematically-linked oral presentations (with or without a discussant).
- A panel of experts on a given topic.
- A roundtable discussion. An author-meets-critics session.
- A workshop/training activity.
- Or, you can propose your own idea!
Panels and paper sessions will last 90 minutes. Organizer(s) should recruit and receive commitments from participants in advance of proposal submission, and include details regarding who will participate and what they will be doing as part of the session proposal. Organized sessions will be highlighted and given priority in the program.
Abstract Submissions
Abstract submissions are now being considered! Submissions are due February 1, 2024. We do not anticipate an extension beyond that date and strongly encourage you to submit your abstracts well before the deadline. We encourage submissions that are relevant to the symposium theme and those that focus on the interactions between social and ecological systems. Individuals will be limited to serving as lead presenter on only one oral paper presentation. This does not include co-authorship and individuals may present both an oral paper presentation and organize a session, present a poster, or serve on a panel.
Guidelines for Abstracts: Abstracts should be in paragraph form, without bullet points. Additionally, the abstract body should include details regarding the background, purpose, methods, results, and conclusions. Please also indicate the theory/analytical framework for the work and provide a description of the research methods used.
Looking forward to seeing you in Cairns for the 2024 IASNR Conference!
Please email the IASNR Office ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
